We are regularly involved in new port projects all around the world (especially in Africa, Middle East and the Black Sea regions) in a very early planning stage or during some commercial studies. This information can be used to support our Clients’ business development activities. We provide support in:
- Providing project teasers to certain projects that might be of interest for port projects currently on the market
- Providing in-depth research on interesting projects (detailed background reports)
- Providing contacts with local authorities / possible local partners related to the projects
- Defining a strategy for our Clients to successfully approach / attract an identified business opportunity
Our planning expertise comprises of maritime terminals for containers, dry- and liquid bulk, general cargo, and project cargo, the planning of dry ports / ICDs, as well as marine service operations. We offer all kinds of consultancy services required for the successful commercialisation of port terminals, for instance:
- PESTEL-Analysis
- Business planning for private, public and PPP ventures (e.g. required for bankable documents)
- Market analysis, competition analysis, tariff studies, traffic projections
- Business process analysis, SWOT-analysis and benchmark studies
- Elaboration of concession frameworks (due diligence, concession plan, concession contract)
- Feasibility studies and master planning
We support the tendering of PPP-contracts by public entities (preparation of tender documents, contract negotiation, etc.) or the bidding process of private companies (preparation of bids, contract negotiation, etc.)
We assist in the implementation of supporting systems for port operation, for instance:
- Terminal Operation Systems (technical specifications of system requirements, provision of hard- and software components, custom-fit solutions by own programmers, installation and testing)
- In cooperation with partners, we develop blockchain solutions in the port, shipping, logistics and transportation sectors.
- Supporting infrastructure and superstructure construction above and below ground (specification, design, construction supervision)
- Supporting procurement of maintenance and repair systems
- Supporting the procurement of port handling equipment (technical specification of main equipment and system components, tendering, contract negotiations, construction supervision, testing)
- In cooperation with partners, development of test procedures for manual, semi- and fully automated port handling equipment
In cooperation with partners, we create tailor-made numerical simulation models for the port sector. Our models include:
- Numerical simulation of logistic transport systems (vessel traffic/disposition, nautical access, terminal operation, hinterland connections, etc.) and other complex dynamic industry systems
- 2D or 3D graphical animation of the simulation
- 3D layouts and films of industrial sites, especially maritime terminals
For operators, ocean carriers and transport companies, we provide support in onboarding, training, consulting, integration, implementation, app development and migration of the legacy systems
We offer tailored solutions for the financing of port projects and related services:
- Financial modelling/analysis (DCF-method, plan P&L-statements, plan balance-sheets, calculation of main financial indicators, sensitivity calculation, risk analysis by financial simulation)
- Financial due diligence and financial valuation
- Raising of development capital, private equity, venture capital/mezzanine, senior debt
- Set-up of shareholder structures for different financing rounds and related shareholder agreements
- Commercial negotiations with shareholders, lenders or grantors
- Involving own company’s sources or innovative reward schemas for our services
In port management and operation, we provide full-service solutions as follows:
